  About Grace

Founded in 1975, Grace School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, serves students from early childhood through eighth grade.  The School offers a curriculum emphasizing the core academic subjects as well as enriching electives; competitive sports including soccer, volleyball, cross-country, basketball, softball, baseball, and track; and extracurricular activities including ensemble, drama, student council, community service, forensics, various academic rallies, cheerleading; and annual trips. Additionally, the School provides comprehensive student health care resources, including a health center directed by a registered nurse and a counseling program headed by a licensed school counselor.  Grace School is very fortunate to be connected with an extended care program called After School Recreation Connection (ARC) Ministry which is operated by Grace Presbyterian Church.

Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Grace School is located on a beautiful 13-acre campus at the intersection of Westheimer and the Sam Houston Toll Road.  The School is an outreach ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church, welcoming students from diverse ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

 

Mission Statement 
The mission of Grace School is to provide an exemplary educational program which incorporates Christian teachings and values for able students who can bring to Grace School a diversity of interests, talents, and skills in an atmosphere which will encourage the student to love to learn and learn to love.

Philosophy
Grace School is an extension of the Christian Education Program of Grace Presbyterian Church.  The spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social development of the child is best achieved when the school, the church, and the home work together toward this common goal.  The School shall provide well-trained, caring teachers, challenging educational stimulation, and a loving environment within the framework of Christian values to allow for each child's individual growth.  The child shall love to learn and learn to love.

Religious Life At Grace School
Grace School is an outreach ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church.  Prayer is an integral part of everyday life at the School.  Intercessory prayer is an essential part of the beginning of each school day.  The Bible curriculum is taught by the classroom teacher through the second grade.  In third grade through Middle School, Bible is taught by teachers specifically trained for that assignment.  Chapel is held once a week for all Grace students.

Facilities
Situated on a beautifully landscaped 13-acre campus, the facilities at Grace School are exceptional.  In addition to 39 classrooms serving Early Childhood through Middle School, facilities include a fully-computerized library, two fully-equipped middle school science labs, a dedicated lower school computer lab, a dedicated middle school computer lab, three music rooms, a dedicated lower school art room with natural light, a dedicated middle school art room with natural light, a chapel, a special events hall with seating capacity for 600, a lecture hall with seating for 200, a cafeteria with a full-service kitchen, a gym, two playgrounds, courtyards, and athletic fields.  Additionally, the church sanctuary with seating for 1,300 is used for special events and programs.

The Grace Team
Our highly-experienced team of teachers and administrators provides the finest quality of educational instruction.  Thirty-seven of our 86 faculty and staff members have over 15 years experience in the educational field.  Among our lower and middle school personnel, twenty-one hold masters degrees and the remaining faculty all hold B.A. or B.S. degrees.  The School is committed to providing opportunities for professional development for its staff to ensure quality programming.

The Grace School Committee serves as the policy arm of Grace School.  Functions include establishing policy and ensuring the proper operation of the School.
