Students of Grace School Gift Tennessee Students with School Uniforms

Just in time for the first day of school and as a response to a weak economic climate that made it difficult for some families to afford school uniforms, the students of Grace School have gifted Oasis of Hope in North Memphis, TN more than 1,000 uniform items.

In January 2011, Grace School unveiled its new school uniforms to parents and students. As we transitioned over to the new uniform this year, over a thousand pieces of gently used khaki pants, skirts, shorts and white shirts were donated to neighborhood children through Oasis of Hope.

Oasis of Hope is a non-profit, community-based Christian organization that encourages life-on-life relationships that connect people across racial and socioeconomic boundaries. Their  mission is to demonstrate Christ’s love to an under-resourced community in Memphis by elevating and improving the quality of neighborhood life through empowerment and partnerships.

Brenda Lampela, Children’s Developer for Oasis of Hope, shared these words of appreciation about the uniform donations, “Because of the many uniforms you sent us, we were able to assist not only the students in our immediate neighborhood, but we were able to also stock the uniform closets of the local schools—one preschool, one elementary and two middle schools—and we still had some left over to share with another ministry located in a different part of town. All in all, just know that your kindness and generosity has touched many, many lives.”
