School Committee

Understanding how the Grace School Committee works begins with understanding how Grace Presbyterian Church is governed. Grace Church is governed by a group of members who are elected to three year terms by the congregation of Grace. This active governing group is called the Session. Those elected in this manner are called Elders. Once elected as an Elder, one is always an Elder. If an individual is serving an active three year term they are an active Elder; if outside their term, they are an inactive Elder. Each of Grace’s ordained pastors is also a member of the Session, and our Senior Pastor, Doug Ferguson, is Moderator of the Session.

The Session is structured with different sub-Committees which have responsibility for different areas of church life. Some of the different sub-Committees are Administration and Finance, Youth, Evangelism, Missions, Worship, and Grace School. Each of the Session Committees is chaired by an active Elder, with committee members consisting of other Elders, both active and inactive, and non-Elder church members.

The Grace School Committee is Grace School’s school board, and is accountable to the Session of Grace Presbyterian Church. The School Committee ensures that the values and the mission of Grace School are consistent with those of Grace Church. And that is simply put, to Love God and Love Our Neighbors.
